Question: I am a male and I would like to know if it is wrong to be chatting with females online, meaning on messengers like msn, yahoo and stuff and also sites like Hi5 and facebook where you can interact with females. Please shed some light on this regarding Islam.

Answer: Yes, it is totally haram (unlawful) to be chatting with females in the manner you have described. This sort of conduct brings about a great amount of harms and is a stepping stone for many sins and evils. The Holy Quran and the sunnah has strictly prohibited this and one will be considered a sinner and a wrongdoer if he continues in this wrong practice.
