Question: Why are flowers not accepted on the graves of muslims?

Answer: This has always been a practice of the non Muslims and the Prophet (s.a.w) has forbidden us from doing so. If we begin to do what others are doing, then we will be likening ourselves to them and the Prophet (s.a.w) has warned us about following the practices of non Muslims.

In this regard, it is reported that he said, 'He is not from among us (that is, the Muslims) who likens himself to those other than us. Do not imitate the Jews and the Christians.' (Recorded by Imam Tirmizi).

In another tradition, it is reported that he said, 'Whoever imitates and follows another people, then he will be from among them.' (Recorded by Imam Abu Dawood).
