Dua after Janaaza Salaah
Question: Is it permissible to make dua immediately after the janaazah salaah? If not, then what shall you do if you are asked to lead the janaazah salaah in a community that are cultured to doing that and by not doing it, a lot of arguments will take place? Can you do it just to keep peace?
Answer: In the Janaza salaah, a dua is already there and hence, there is no need to make a dua after the salaah is performed. This is not evident from the Prophet (s.a.s), nor is it evident from the sahabahs and the pious predecessors. In fact, it is mentioned in books of Islamic Jurisprudence that it is makrooh (disliked) for one to raise his voice while making dua when the people have gathered for the janaza salaah. (Fatawa Alamgiri).
In the case mentioned, where the people are requesting that a dua be made, then you can do it since it is not haram. However, an effort should be made to teach the people that which is right.
And Allah knows best.
