Question: What causes "wet dreams" in both married and unmarried males and is there any remedy to this situation?

Answer: With respect to that which has been stated, it is mentioned that semen accumulates in the testicles from puberty onwards and more semen may be formed than the system can assimilate. When this happens, semen is expelled during the sleep. Hence, the cause for a 'wet dream' which is known as a nocturnal emission. This is normally the case in both married and unmarried individuals.

For the unmarried ones, they should look towards marriage if they are in a position to do so. If not, then they can observe optional fast which is a very good manner of helping the situation. In the case of married individuals, they are already married and they can curb the problem.

If, while having a wet dream, one sees oneself in states having sexual relations and other similar states, then this can be a result of evil jinns. As such, one should recite Suras Falaq and An Nas along with the Ayatul Kursi before going to bed. Insha Allah, with Allah's help and protection, one will be safeguarded from such mischief of the evil jinns.
