Question: Can muslims have pictures of people in their homes, can we take photographs of people also?

Answer: There are many authentic traditions which condemn the act of drawing pictures or taking out pictures, hence, the jurists have given an allowance only in cases of need and necessity. Seeing that there is no need and necessity for one to have pictures of people in the homes, it will not be permissible to do so.
