Delivering khutbah without a topee

Question: Is it permissible for an Imam to deliver a khutba without a topee?

Answer: Doing so will be in opposition to the established practice of the Prophet (s.a.s) and hence not proper. However, if one does it, the khutba and salaat will be valid.
