Question: I am from Guyana and I want to find out about which is halaal to consume from these 2 animals: (1) Tapir and (2) Capybara?

Answer: Based on my investigation, I have seen that the capybara belongs to the rodent order and it is also stated that it eats its own faeces. Based on this, the capybara will not be halal to consume. As far as the Tapir is concerned, the Dept. of Islamic affairs in Malaysia have stated that the Tapir is not Halal.
